ABERDEEN, SD (HubCityRadio.com) – On Thursday night, the Aberdeen Smittys returned home to the Hub City following the Gopher Classic this last weekend and took on & then took down the Sturgis Post 33 Titans in run rule fashion, 16-4 in seven innings.
The Smittys got off to a hot start after retiring the side in the top half of the first inning & put up a three spot in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back. The Smittys put up at least one run in every one of the six innings in which they had at-bats in. The Sturgis defense struggled in the field, as they had six errors & Aberdeen would take advantage and score in double figures for the 24th time this season.
Donnie Soderlund earned the victory on the hill, going six innings and scattering six hits and four runs, but only one earned run.
On offense, Cooper Eisenbeisz led the offensive charge, going 2-4 (a triple & a single) with a pair of runs scored + two RBI’s. Jackson Welke & Lance Siefken each drove in two runs, too.
Earlier in the evening, the Bryce Anglin Award was handed out to Lance Siefken.
The Smittys return to the diamond on Friday afternoon at 1p & 3p for a doubleheader against Spearfish. Hub City Radio will have coverage of the doubleheader with a webstream, on HubCityRadio.com; Matt McClure will have the play-by-play, filling in for Ryan Martin.
