[Game 2]
- Riding a four game winning streak down to Renner, SD the Aberdeen Smittys extended that streak to five and then saw it snapped as they split with the Post 307 squad on Wednesday night.
- In game one, the Aberdeen offense struck early & often. Before the Post 307 defense could post three outs, the Smittys posted seven runs and never trailed in the contest. Phillip Zens picked up the win, going four innings and only surrendered three hits, he also struck out four in the victory. At the dish, Casey Vining was a single and double short of the cycle, going 2-4 with four runs scored + a bomb of a 2-run HR & 3RBI. Jaden Smith was a steady 2-3 with a run scored and 3RBI. Brendan Livermont & Cooper Eisenbeisz each knocked in a pair of runs, too. The Aberdeen offense also out-hit Post 307, 15 to eight.
- In game two, it would be the home team that got off to a fast start. The Smittys trailed 5-0 after the first inning and could never catch up in the five inning loss. Aberdeen got an RBI each from Zane Backous + Andrew Woehl. Drew Salfrank took the loss, only going an inning and two thirds and surrendering eight hits, six runs (three earned). Even with the loss, the Smittys saw their record go to 21-12 and they’re back in action on Friday in a tournament in Minneapolis; their first opponent is Thunder Bay, Ontario at 4:30p. The tournament will span Friday – Sunday and the Smittys will have five games [one Friday, two Saturday & two Sunday].
