HARRISBURG, SD (HubCityRadio.com) – On a day where temperatures reached the low 90’s, the heat was coming from the Harrisburg Gold offense, as they put up a combined 31 runs over the course of a two five inning games. Harrisburg defeated the Aberbeen Smittys 16-3 in game one & then a 15-5 triumph in game two.

In the first game of two, the Harrisburg squad led early, they put up three runs in the bottom of the first inning & they would never trail for the rest of the game. Aberdeen would get two runs back in the top of the second, but Harrisburg responded in kind, adding five of their own in the bottom of the second inning. The Gold squad put up two more crooked numbers in the third & fourth inning and cruised to the 16-3 victory.

Aberdeen pitchers struggled with control on the hill, walking eleven batters. Michael Dutenhoffer took the loss, going three innings, scattering eight hits and surrendering 11 runs, ten of them earned and walking four. Joe Cogley came in from the bullpen for the final inning and gave up five runs and walked seven, but also struck out a pair. Talan Dutenhoeffer went 1-2 at the dish with a pair of runs driven in.

In game two, the Smittys offense came out smoking; plating two in the top of the first inning to earn an early advantage. Harrisburg got half of it back in the bottom of the frame, but then put up eight in the bottom of the second to grab a 9-2 lead. Aberdeen did their best to claw back in the third and fourth, cutting the deficit to 11-5 going into the bottom of the fourth, but just couldn’t quiet the Gold offense down enough. Harrisburg plated four more in the bottom half and 10-run ruled Aberdeen and ended the game after five innings.

Karson Borge took the loss, going an inning and giving up three hits, six runs, five of them earned and walking three. Jaxon Ladner & Grant Beyer both came in for relief efforts over the final three innings. Beyer had a big day on offense, going 1-3 with a pair of runs driven in. Ridley Waldo also drove in a run, while also walking twice. Joran Foss went a perfect 3-3 with a run scored. Harrisburg out-hit Aberdeen 8-3 in game one and 13-7 in game two.

The Smittys finally return home on Thursday for a doubleheader against Renner Post 307.
