- In legion baseball on Saturday, the Aberdeen Smittys picked up their 19th & 20th wins of the season as they took down Huron Post 7 in a twin bill sweep.
- In game one, the Smittys got an outstanding pitching performance from Zane Backous; he went six innings of solid work and surrendered two runs while striking out nine in the win. Aberdeen was aided by three errors from Post 7 and they made them pay. Casey Vining was 2-5 while scoring three times and knocking in three, he also went yard. Drew Salfrank & Phillip Zens each notched a double, too; Salfrank scored twice and Zens once. The Aberdeen defense was perfect in the field, recording zero errors in the five run victory.
- In game two, Aberdeen made things a little less competitive, winning in runaway fashion, 15-1. Phillip Zens got the win on the rubber going five innings and surrendering only one unearned run, while punching out four. Brendan Livermont had his best day at the dish this season, going 2-4 with a HR + 4RBI. Jaden Smith was 1-3 with three knocked in. Cooper Eisenbeisz & Jackson Welke each drove in a pair of runs. The Smittys put up four in the third, five in the fifth & six in the sixth inning(s), respectively. With the win(s) the Smittys up their record to 20-11 and the next time they’ll play Post 7 [in Aberdeen] on July 13th, it’ll be a single nine inning game.
