WACONIA, MN (HubCityRadio.com) – On the first day of the Gopher Classic in Waconia, MN, errors would do in the Smittys in a pair of tight losses; losing to Creighton Prep FPB, 6-3 & then falling to LaCrescent 2-1.

He would surrender five runs, but none of them were earned, as the Smittys had a pair of errors in field, on defense. In the second game against LaCrescent, hurler Phillip Zens pitched an absolute gem, but couldn’t get enough offensive help in a 2-1 shortcoming. Trailing 1-0 in the third, Casey Vining laced a single to plate Drew Salfrank and tie up the contest; but LaCrescent broke the 1-1 tie in the fourth, thanks to some defensive miscues in the top of the frame.
