Snake shorts substation, causing power outage in Aberdeen

ABERDEEN, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – A snake dropped by a bird was the culprit in a power outage on the north side of Aberdeen earlier this afternoon.

Power was out for about an hour after a city substation was damaged, according to Tom Glanzer, Community Relations Manager with Northwestern Energy.

He said it was a snake that shorted the system.

Glanzer said more than 3,000 customers were impacted.
