Snow melt could lead to isolated flooding along the James River

YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- As the snow melts across the northern plains into the spring, some flooding is expected.

Kevin Low with the Missouri Basin River Forecast Center says some of the usual areas along the James River will see high water.

Low says there could also be flooding along the Big Sioux River.

Low says some flooding is also possible in southeast South Dakota and northwest Iowa.

Low says those predictions are based on current conditions and doesn’t account for any future rain or snow.

He took part in an SDSU Extension Climate Update.
