Some issues from special session could carry over to 2021 regular session

YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – While the South Dakota legislature authorized spending almost $600 million in federal CARES Act funding during their one-day special session, some of the same issues may spill over into the 2021 regular session.

Representative Jean Hunhoff of Yankton says schools will have ongoing issues and costs.

Hunhoff says there was another proposal to dedicate money to older folks in nursing homes.

Hunhoff says they will also have to look at changes in how state government is operating and delivering services.

Hunhoff is a member of the Joint Committee on Appropriations that made the recommendations to the legislature.
