South Dakota Better Business Bureau talks about scams on the rise in South Dakota

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- It’s all a numbers game, and you have to stay on the top of your game to avoid becoming a victim.

Jessie Schmidt of the Better Business Bureau says phishing scams nearly doubled last year, reaching a record high of over nine-thousand.

How do you detect a potential scam?

Schmidt says if you’re being pressured into taking quick action to avoid problems with an account, chances are it’s a scam…especially if it’s a government agency.
