Education Department Secretary Tiffany Sanderson led off the hearing.

Sanderson says kids need to be challenged in the classroom.
Representative Sue Peterson of Sioux Falls was a member of the original standards study group. She criticized the South Dakota Education Association, the Associated School Boards among others as ineffective.
