SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — The South Dakota Department of Corrections has selected a 320-acre site south of Harrisburg for the new men’s penitentiary. Regardless of where it’s located, the new prison isn’t likely to be a neighborhood favorite.  The Legislature and Governor have been working in the direction of replacing the old prison, which dates back to the 18-hundreds.

Crabtree says the Legislature isn’t involved in selecting the site, but a great majority agree a replacement is needed.
