South Dakota Dept of Health warning of a new drug

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)-More warnings about a dangerous new drug combination.  This time from the South Dakota Health Department.

Drug Cartels are mixing fentanyl with xylazine, making it even more deadly.

Xylazine is a powerful animal tranquilizer.

Minnehaha County Sheriff Mike Milstead says drug antidote Narcan doesn’t work with this new drug.

He pulls no punches on the dangers of buying street drugs.

The new combination can cause serious breathing problems, seizures and death.

It can also rot flesh, making amputations necessary.
