PIERRE, S.D.(Press Release) – The South Dakota Fraternal Order of Police today announced their endorsement of Governor Kirsti Noem’s re-election campaign.
The South Dakota FOP is made up of more than 1,400 members of law enforcement at the city, county, state, and federal level. The FOP supports its members by advocating for their rights and benefits, and supports the citizens of South Dakota by fighting for appropriate law enforcement related legislation.
In announcing their endorsement, the South Dakota F.O.P. stated that “Governor Noem has proven to be a friend and ally of law enforcement. Her voice has been clear in her support in recent events, and her call for law enforcement officers from across the country to find a welcome place in South Dakota demonstrates that.”
“Governor Noem is a strong voice for South Dakota. She believes in the rule of law and citizens’ rights. In my opinion, those two things go hand in hand with what South Dakota’s law enforcement officers are doing every day and we are pleased to offer our support to Governor Noem,” SD FOP State Lodge President Mike Walsh said.
Upon receiving the endorsement, Governor Noem said, “I am honored to receive the endorsement and support of the South Dakota F.O.P. These law enforcement officers at the city, county, state, and federal levels are the best of South Dakota. Their sacrifices and expertise in keeping us all safe serve as an inspiration to so many South Dakotans, myself included. As Governor, I will continue to stand with law enforcement and do all I can to give them the support and tools they need to succeed.”
