South Dakota Farmers Union President react to PUC turning down pipeline requests

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- Carbon capture pipelines will not find their way on properties in South Dakota any time soon.

The recent decisions by the state Public Utilities Commission came as a relief to landowners who would have been impacted if either was approved.

South Dakota Farmers Union President Doug Sombke says the PUC was looking out for those landowners.

Sombke was surprised by the unanimous decision, reiterating that it wasn’t made in defiance of the ethanol industry.

Both companies are expected to resubmit applications to construct the pipelines.
