WASHINGTON, D.C.(Hub City Radio)- The South Dakota Farmers Union are doing their annual Fly-In at Washington, D.C. this week.

Brown County crop producer Kirk Schaunaman talked about what’s been happening this week.

They started on Sunday with the NextGen Social on Sunday for the young producers.

They got to here from the President of the National Farmers Union, Rob LaRew.  LaRew echoed what South Dakota Farmers Union President Doug Sombke.

The Farmers Union also heard from the USDA but not from Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins.  Schaunaman was asked about their relationship with the Ag Secretary.

Schaunaman credited the work and patience of both Senators Mike Rounds and John Thune.

Schaunaman expressed optimism that the Farm Bill will be done by the end of this year.

On Thursday, the U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee passed out the Farm Bill on a 12-11 vote.  All twelve Republicans while all eleven Democrats opposed.
