South Dakota House address HB1188

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The South Dakota House debated two bills addressing active duty soldiers and veterans.

One bill was HB1188 that deals with allowing nonresident military members to purchase three-day temporary nonresident waterfowl licenses.  Prime sponsor is Representative Christopher Reder of Warner.

Reder explains why he brought this bill up to the legislature.

Reder inform the body the bill address only active duty personnel.

Opposing the bill was Representative Scott Moore of Ipswich who was lone no vote on the House Military & Veterans Committee.

Bill was passed on the House on a 65-3 vote.

In another bill addressing veterans, HB 1238 which establish protections for a veteran seeking assistance in a veterans’ benefit matter.  That bill passed 44-24.  Representaive Reder(who is a US Navy veteran) did vote against the bill because he believes the bill actually takes money directly from veterans for services that they can have choices for free.
