PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- Sometimes progress is made in the South Dakota legislature when bills are defeated. That was the case with a bill designed to set up a Medicaid expansion fund.
The bill was amended in both Houses before it landed in a conference committee, which recommended that the bill be killed.
Representative Tony Venhuizen of Sioux Falls said the sponsors had good intentions.
Venhuizen says they know paying for Medicaid expansion will be expensive.
Venhuizen says they will add money to the fund over the next three years.
The conference committee report, killing the bill, passed on a vote of sixty-eight to one.
