PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The South Dakota House passed a bill this week that would require backers of constitutional amendment petition drives to get signatures from each legislative district.
Assistant House Minority Leader Erin Healy of Sioux Falls questions the intent of the bill.
Healy says the current petition signature process has worked well.
Healy says that would set different standards than that needed by statewide candidates.
Healy was a no vote on the bill that passed by a margin of forty seven to twenty two. The bill now goes to the Senate State Affairs Committee.
