Update on SB121

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The South Dakota House on Monday discussed SB121 which deals with additional funding need for the Richmond Dam and spillway project.

This bill had a completely different title when it started in the Senate.  The bill then what they called hoghoused by the House Appropriation Committee.

Representative Al Novstrup of Aberdeen talked about how the term hoghouse came about.

Novstrup informed the body about the bids that took place for this project which was much higher than the estimates.

Representative Logan Manhart of Aberdeen is a strong supporter of this bill as it stands.

There was no direct opposition to the bill but Representative Drew Peterson of Salem believes the City of Aberdeen & Brown County should play a bigger role in contributing to the project.

The House passed the bill on a 66-3 vote.

On Tuesday, the South Dakota Senate didn’t concur with the amendment put in by the House Committee on Appropriation.

The committee is scheduled to meet on Monday, March 30th.  South Dakota House has received the message from the Senate.  The House announced Representatives Al Novstrup, Mike Derby, and Terri Jorgenson.
