SIOUX FALLS SD (KELOLAND)– Secretary Kristi Noem and Senate Majority Leader John Thune took to X to respond to the crash of a plane and helicopter in Washington D.C..

Noem wrote “We are deploying every available US Coast Guard resource for search and rescue efforts in this horrific incident at DCA. We are actively monitoring the situation & stand ready to support local responders,”.

Noem oversees the U.S. Coast Guard during peacetime, as part of her new role as the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.

Sen. John Thune wrote that he is “Closely monitoring the situation at Reagan National Airport. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved and with all of the first responders who are currently on the scene,”.

Senator Mike Rounds wrote this “Last night’s plane crash near Reagan National Airport was an unbelievable tragedy. Praying for the families of all the victims as well as all first responders who immediately answered the call and worked through the night to help.”
