PIERRE, S.D.(KELO)- The abortion debate is about to rise in the South Dakota Legislature.

A resolution is being introduced to express the legislature’s opposition to a proposed constitutional amendment that would enshrine abortion in the state constitution.

State House Majority Leader Will Mortenson says he wants residents to fully understand what’s being proposed.

Mortenson says he will invite long time Democratic Operative Rick Weiland to Pierre to be a part of the dialogue.

Weiland is the primary organizer behind the effort to put the Abortion Amendment on the November Ballot.
