SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- South Dakota Legislative leaders are hoping to tweak the Medicaid expansion program approved by voters last year.
Most federal welfare benefits have a work requirement in South Dakota for people who are able to work.
Representative tony Venhuizen says the program approved by voters last year doesn’t allow that…unless work requirements are placed on all Medicaid recipients.
A measure asking voters to approve a change to allow the work provision on new Medicaid recipients passed the state House last year, but failed in the Senate.
Vehhuizen says they’ll try again starting in January.
