South Dakota seeking death penalty for Joseph Hoek

FLANDREAU, S.D.(KELO)- The state is seeking the death penalty against Joseph Hoek.

Hoek is accused of intentionally running down Moody County Chief Deputy Kenneth Prorok during a high speed chase.

Attorney general Marty Jackley cited two of the statutory aggravating circumstances, where at least one is required to seek the death penalty.

Hoek’s next court appearance is scheduled for June 20th in Flandreau.
