South Dakota Telecommunications Associations react to bill authorizing $100 millions for broadband

PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has signed the bill authorizing one hundred million dollars for broadband expansion. Seventy-five million of that is state money, matched with twenty-five million dollars from the federal government.

Greg Dean, with the South Dakota Telecommunications Association, says there is an application process underway.

Dean says the bill gives companies options to deliver the service.

Dean says the money should be enough to expand high speed broadband across the state.

Dean says the Biden Administration is also making high speed internet service a priority so there may be additional federal funding available.
