South Dakota’s active cases drop below 800; one new death reported

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – South Dakota’s number of active COVID-19 cases dropped by 21 today and there was one new COVID-related death in the state, according to numbers released by the South Dakota Department of Health.

The death raised the state’s overall total to 119. The number of active infections is currently 799 (there were 878 one week ago).

South Dakota had 58 new confirmed cases today with 78 recoveries. The state has had 8,077 total confirmed cases, 7,159 recoveries, and 92,981 negative tests. There are currently 56 people hospitalized because of the virus.

Locally, Brown County reported one new confirmed case and one new recovery, leaving the number of active infections at 16. The county has had 369 confirmed cases, 351 recoveries, and 3,728 negative tests.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 3,907 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 756, Beadle County with 574, and Lincoln County with 431.
