Southeastern Electric showing steady growth

MARION, S.D. (WNAX) – A rural electric cooperative that serves areas around Sioux Falls is rapidly growing and has to deal with losing long time employees and finding new ones.

Southeastern Electric Manager Brad Schardin (shar-deen) says they are losing a number of experienced workers to retirement.

Schardin says they have been able to find new younger workers.

The co-op has grown over 20 percent over the past five years with more growth expected. Schardin says that means they will have to add additional workers.

Schardin says they will detail their future plans and proposed rates when they finish their budget in December.
