SPEARFISH, S.D. (KBHB) – A Spearfish man has died after suffering injuries in a mobile home fire early Wednesday morning.

Spearfish fire crews were called to the structure fire shortly before 7:00 a.m. Wednesday at 1110 Roughlock Lane. First arriving fire crews found an active structure fire with smoke and flames visible.

A lone male occupant was located in the residence and removed from the home. He was taken by ambulance to the Spearfish hospital, and later air lifted to a burn center in Greeley, Colorado, where he died from his injuries. The man’s identity hasn’t been released pending notification of relatives.

Spearfish fire crews were able to make a direct attack on the fire and quickly extinguish the flames, keeping it away from surrounding infrastructure. The mobile home was destroyed.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
