A Plein Air Art Competition titled the Spirit of 76′ will be held Thursday morning at the Brown County Fair. Plein Air is a French word for Outdoors or Open Air, and gives the Painters an opportunity to wander the Fairgrounds and choose the outdoor location they paint from. Patricia Kendall the Director of the Dacotah Prairie Museum and Co-Chair of the 250th Anniversary Committee tells us more.

While the goal is fun and freedom of expression, there is a slightly competitive side.

The SD Arts Council, Aberdeen Area Arts Council and Dacotah Prairie Museum is putting the event on along with the 250th Anniversary Committee who is providing the theme.
