Spring auction for public land here in South Dakota being pushed back

PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- One sign of spring is the annual public land lease auction.

Ryan Brunner, Commissioner of the Office of School & Public Lands, says they are moving the auction back a few weeks.

Brunner says the money from the leases along with the sale of some public lands goes into their investment fund.

Brunner says they also put money into trust funds for many state agencies.

The state still owns over seven hundred thousand acres, mostly grassland, in central and western South Dakota.
