State added 1 COVID-related death, active cases decline while hospitalization increase

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 1 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases declines while hospitalization increases, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death toll now at 1,779. The state had 116 new confirmed cases and 348 recoveries, lowering active infections 2,600. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus increase to 131.

So far, South Dakota has had 108,431 confirmed cases and 104,052 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 12 new cases and 21 recoveries. The county currently has 161 active cases. Overall, the county has had 4,952 confirmed cases and 4,711 recoveries. There remains 80 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 27,059 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,395, and Lincoln County with 7,466. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,755, Brookings with 3,430, Davison with 2,902, Lawrence with 2,754, and Yankton with 2,747.

Statewide 71,522 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine with 29,967 receiving 2 doses needed to complete vaccination.  Brown County has 3,397 receiving at least one shot & 1,471 getting the 2 shots need to complete vaccination.
