State added 3 COVID-related deaths, active cases decline while hospitalization increase

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 3 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases continutes to declines while hospitalization increases, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death toll now at 1,782. The state had 209 new confirmed cases and 253 recoveries, lowering active infections 2,552. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus increase to 133.
So far, South Dakota has had 108,639 confirmed cases and 104,305 recoveries.
Locally, Brown County had 14 new cases and 17 recoveries. The county currently has 158 active cases. Overall, the county has had 4,966 confirmed cases and 4,728 recoveries. There remains 80 Covid-related deaths.
Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 27,109 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,424, and Lincoln County with 7,486. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,766, Brookings with 3,440, Davison with 2,905, Lawrence with 2,758, and Yankton with 2,748.
Statewide 73,553 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine with 31,051 receiving 2 doses needed to complete vaccination. Brown County has 3,434 receiving at least one shot & 1,487 getting the 2 shots need to complete vaccination.
