PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state added 28 more COVID-related deaths, saw a slight increase in active infections, and had hospitalizations continue to drop according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The deaths (which included two each in Brown County and Day County, and one each in Spink County and Walworth County), raised the state’s overall death toll to 1,329.
South Dakota had 575 new confirmed cases and 530 recoveries, raising the amount of active cases to 8,773. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus dropped by 19 to 387.
So far, the state has had 93,772 confirmed cases and 83,670 recoveries.
Locally, Brown County had 20 new confirmed cases and 37 recoveries, lowering the amount of active infections to 325. In all, the county has had 4,178 confirmed cases and 3,804 recoveries. There have been 49 total COVID-related deaths.
Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 23,759 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 10,379, and Lincoln County with 6,332. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,237, Brookings with 2,793, Davison with 2,623, Beadle with 2,447, Lawrence with 2,397, and Yankton with 2,313.
