PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state experienced 30 more COVID-related deaths, while active cases rose slightly and hospitalizations declined a small amount according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The deaths, two of which occurred in Brown County, pushed the state’s overall death total to 1,177. South Dakota had 704 new confirmed cases and 588 recoveries, increasing the amount of active infections by 116 to 16,234. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus decreased by 10 to 491.
So far, the state has had 88,727 confirmed cases and 71,316 recoveries.
Locally, Brown County had 31 new cases and 24 recoveries, increasing the amount of active cases to 687. In all, the county has had 3,993 confirmed cases and 3,272 recoveries. There have been 34 COVID-related deaths.
Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 22,451 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 9,703, and Lincoln County with 5,925. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,031, Brookings with 2,659, Davison with 2,538, Beadle with 2,404, Lawrence with 2,275, Yankton with 2,149, and Meade with 1,967.
