State adds three new COVID deaths, including one in Day County

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state saw an increase of 257 active COVID cases, two new hospitalizations and three new deaths in numbers released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The deaths occured in Day, Fall River and Hutchinson counties and increase the overall COVID-related death total to 946. South Dakota had 564 new confirmed cases and 307 recoveries, increasing the amount of active infections to 17,184. The number of individuals currently hospitalized in association with the virus is 546.

In all, the state has had 80,464 confirmed cases and 62,334 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 32 new cases and 17 recoveries to increase the amount of active cases to 737. So far the county has had 3,641 confirmed cases and 2,883 recoveries. There have been 21 COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 20,520 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 8,670, and Lincoln County with 5,424. Other counties totals include Codington with 2,686, Brookings with 2,448, Davison with 2,405, Beadle with 2,278, Lawrence with 2,035, Yankton with 1,787, and Meade with 1,753.
