State has 14 more COVID-related deaths, active cases increase by 162

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 14 new COVID-related deaths and active cases increased by 162 in totals released today by the South Dakota Department of Health. The state now has 272 deaths. The deaths included three residents of Gregory and Minnehaha counties, two residents of Lincoln and Turner counties, and one resident of each Bennett, Davison, Jerauld and Lyman counties. South Dakota had 536 new cases as well as 359 recoveries, increasing the amount of active infections to 4,673 (there were 3,832 one week ago).

In all, the state has had 26,441 confirmed cases, and 21,496 recoveries. There are currently 284 individuals hospitalized in connection with the virus.

Locally, Brown County had 12 new cases and 15 new recoveries, lowering the amount of active cases to 216. The county has had 1,427 total cases, 1,207 recoveries and four COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 7,550 cases, followed by Pennington County with 2,921, and Lincoln County with 1,692. Other counties totals include Codington with 1,053, Beadle with 899, Brookings with 874, Meade with 669, and Clay with 606.
