State has single-day record of confirmed cases, no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state saw an increase in active COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, and there were no new deaths reported among the totals released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The state had a record single-day total of 2,019 new confirmed cases to go along with 759 recoveries increasing the amount of active infections by 1,260 to 18,722. The number of hospitalizations increased by eight to 551.

So far, South Dakota has had 60,716 confirmed cases, 41,427 recoveries, and there have been 567 total COVID-related deaths.

Locally, Brown County had 76 new confirmed cases and 25 recoveries increasing the amount of active cases to 667. In all, the county has had 2,720 confirmed cases and 2,045 recoveries. There have been eight total COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 15,840 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 6,519, and Lincoln County with 4,140. Other counties totals include Codington with 2,098, Brookings with 1,889, Beadle with 1,802, Davison with 1,662, Lawrence with 1,514, Oglala Lakota with 1,331, and Meade with 1,315.
