State has slight increase in active COVID cases, one new death

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The new confirmed COVID-19 cases and the new recoveries were nearly identical, and there was one new death in numbers released by the South Dakota Department of Health today.

South Dakota had 102 new cases and 101 recoveries, bumping the active cases up slightly to 1,062 (there were 951 one week ago). The added death brings the state’s total to 147.

Overall, South Dakota has had 9,815 confirmed cases, 8,606 recoveries, and 123,628 negative tests. There are currently 59 people hospitalized because of the virus.

Locally, Brown County saw one new case and seven new recoveries, lowering the active infections to 43. The county has had 452 total confirmed cases, 406 recoveries, 4,492 negative tests and three deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 4,498 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 910, Lincoln County with 667, and Beadle County with 594.
