State has small increase in active COVID cases, one new death

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state’s active COVID-19 infections bumped up by 21, and there was one new death reported according to the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death brings the state’s total to 170. The state had 259 new cases and 239 new recoveries, bringing the amount of active cases in the state to 3,032 (there were 2,182 one week ago).

So far, South Dakota has had 14,596 confirmed cases and 11,394 recoveries. There are currently 89 people hospitalized in connection with the virus.

Locally, Brown County had 24 new cases and 18 new recoveries increasing the total of active infections to 150. In all, the county has had 742 confirmed cases, 589 recoveries, and three total deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 5,496 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 1,560, and Lincoln County with 958. Other counties include Beadle with 644 cases, Brookings with 431, Clay with 427, Codington with 399, and Meade with 332.
