PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- State law enforcement officials thanked legislators and the Governor Thursday for finding two-point-four million dollars in funding to reconstruct the state Emergency Vehicle Operations Course near the Pierre Regional Airport. Attorney General Mark Vargo says the project was big politically because of the cost.
Vargo says three-point-two mile course in critical for law enforcement in the state.
Hank Prim, Law Enforcement Training Administrator for the Division of Criminal Investigation says they were able to training classes while the course was under construction.
EVOC instructors, like Watertown Trooper John Hughes took guests in attendance for a first- hand look at course in action.
The Legislature approved the funding for the repave in 2020. The course was first built over 30 years ago and had not had major reconstruction until this year. Morris Incorporated of Fort Pierre was the contractor for the reconstruction.
