State reports 42 new COVID cases

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – There were 42 new cases of COVID-19 reported today by the South Dakota Department of Health. There were no new recoveries so the active number of cases right now is 945 (there were 807 a week ago).

The number of hospitalizations (59) and deaths (97) remained the same. The state also reported 258 new negative tests. Overall statewide numbers show 7,105 confirmed cases, 6,063 recoveries, and 77,198 negative tests.

Locally, Brown County had two new cases bringing the overall total to 349 cases, 20 of which are active. The county has had 327 recoveries, 3,133 negative tests, and two deaths. Of the 170 cases associated with the DemKota Ranch Beef Plant, there have been 166 recoveries.

Minnehaha County has had 3,667 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington with 575, Beadle with 541, and Lincoln with 366.
