State reports record number of recoveries, two new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported a record-number of recoveries with 3,542 to lower the amount of active infections by more than 3,000, and also had two new COVID-related deaths according to numbers released from the South Dakota Department of Health today. The state had 448 new confirmed cases and combined with the new recoveries, had its amount of active cases dropped to 14,088, the lowest in nearly a month. The state’s death total is now at 948. South Dakota also had one more hospitalization, increasing that total to 547.

In all, the state has had 80,912 confirmed cases and 65,876 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 16 new confirmed cases and 167 recoveries, lowering the amount of active infections to 586. The county has had 3,657 confirmed cases and 3,050 recoveries. There have been 21 COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 20,652 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 8,733, and Lincoln County with 5,453. Other counties totals include Codington with 2,700, Brookings with 2,461, Davison with 2,409, Beadle with 2,292, Lawrence with 2,051, Yankton with 1,792, and Meade with 1,763.
