State reports two new deaths; active cases drop by 50

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The Department of Health reported two new COVID-19 related deaths today while the number of active cases continues to drop.

The deaths move the state total to 77.

There were 38 new cases statewide, along with 108 new recoveries lowering the number of active cases to 820. There have been 5,966 confirmed cases, 5,069 recoveries, and 61,236 negative tests.

Current hospitalizations number 92.

Brown County did not have a new confirmed case, but did have four new recoveries today. The leaves the county with 26 active cases. There have been 2,243 negative tests.

Minnehaha County had just three new cases, bringing its state-leading total to 3,488 cases. Beadle County has had 452, and Pennington County 402. Lincoln County has had 271 and Union County 113.
