PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – From blizzards and spring flooding, to summer storms and tornadoes the state has seen a number of disasters this year.
South Dakota Department of Public Safety Secretary Craig Price says state resources are usually a backup to local officials.
Price says he was very impressed with the response to the tornado that hit Burke earlier this month.
Price says his department is ready to assist where local resources are thin.
He says each disaster is unique and they learn how to respond better the next time.
