State shows slight increase in active infections, no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state showed a slight increase in active COVID-19 cases with no new deaths reported today, according to numbers supplied by the South Dakota Department of Health. The state had 240 new confirmed cases to go along with 220 new recoveries, pushing the amount of active infections to 2,750 (there were 1,530 one week ago). The state’s death total remained at 167.

So far, South Dakota has had a total of 13,749 confirmed cases and 10,832 recoveries. There are currently 78 people hospitalized in connection with the virus.

Locally, Brown County had 20 new cases and 13 new recoveries, moving the county’s active infections to 138. In all, the county has had 695 confirmed cases, 554 recoveries, and three total deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 5,340 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 1,448, and Lincoln County with 919. Beadle County has had 639 total cases, Clay County 372, Brookings County 340, Codington County 330, and Meade County 305.
