COLMAN, S.D.(WNAX)- The derecho that roared across the region in May caused widespread damage that is still being repaired and totaled up.

Ted Smith with Sioux Valley Energy based in Colman says they had a wide spread outage.

Smith says at the peak that had about twelve thousand customers in the dark or about half of their services.

Smith says every storm and outage is unique.

Sioux Valley serves an area from just north of Sioux Falls to Brookings and east into Minnesota.
