PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – The State of South Dakota is still holding about $900 million in federal funds for COVID-19 related expenses.
Governor Kristi Noem says they have sent out millions of dollars to local governments.
Noem says she wants the spending rules clarified by the U.S. Treasury.
Noem says they are facing some fiscal deadlines.
Some legislators have called for a special session to debate the use of the federal dollars. Noem says she hasn’t decided yet if a session is needed.
