State using funding to help expand broadband in rural communities

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(WNAX)- State and federal funding is flowing through the “SD Connects” program to help pay for broadband expansions across the state.

Andrew Curley, Director of Government Relations for Midco, says they have several projects underway.

Curley says the grants help most in rural areas.

Curley says the grants also help update technology on existing networks.

The state has committed about one hundred million dollars to the broadband expansion.
