PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – State officials are coordinating with health care providers on the number of hospital beds available and the number that could be quickly added.
Health Department Secretary Kim Malsam-Rysdon says they are working on expansion plans.
Malsam-Rysdon says they also need to identify additional equipment that would be needed.
Malsam-Rysdon says the need for additional hospital beds will be determined by how widely the coronavirus spreads.
The state currently has about 100 Intensive Care Unit hospital beds.
