State’s active cases decrease, hospitalizations up slightly, no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – Active COVID cases decreased, hospitalizations were up slightly, and there were no new deaths according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The state reported 317 new confirmed cases and 440 recoveries, dropping the amount of active infections by 123 to 12,623, the lowest total in weeks. Hospitalizations were up five to 441. The state’s death total remained at 1,259.

So far, South Dakota has had 91,354 confirmed cases and 77,472 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 12 new confirmed cases and 21 new recoveries, lowering the amount of active infections by nine to 517. In all, the county has had 4,079 confirmed cases and 3,518 recoveries. There have been 44 total COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 23,108 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 10,062, and Lincoln County with 6,132. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,139, Brookings with 2,730, Davison with 2,583, Beadle with 2,425, Lawrence with 2,338, Yankton with 2,225, and Meade with 2,037.
