State’s active cases increase; no new deaths reported

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state saw an increase of new active cases, a slight bump in hospitalizations and no news deaths, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The state had 509 new confirmed cases and 127 recoveries, pushing the amount of active infections to 16,814. Hospitalizations were up four to 503. The state’s COVID-related death total remained at 1,110.

In all, South Dakota has had 86,450 confirmed cases and 68,576 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 31 new confirmed cases and seven recoveries, moving the amount of active cases to 701. Overall, the county has had 3,893 confirmed cases and 3,162 recoveries. There have been 30 total COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 21,902 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 9,407, and Lincoln County with 5,792. Other counties totals include Codington with 2,911, Brookings with 2,614, Davison with 2,513, Beadle with 2,384, Lawrence with 2,219, Yankton with 2,083, and Meade with 1,908.
